![]() ![]() I will never suggest this company as a place to work for. They won't help you with management coverage if one of the managers is on vacation or out sick. They expect you to stay open past closing time just so you can make them more money but you don't get any kind of reward for anything. They treat you like dirt and don't care that you have things to do outside of work. They also don't care about you if you're a low volume store. You have to use all of your vacation time before the holidays or you will lose it all. They'll also tell you that your vacation time will roll over into the next year but it doesn't. They'll tell you that you get all of these bonuses, raises and promise you all this money but I have yet to see any of it. They also don't have their stuff together and lack communication with each other and their stores. They play favorites and try to lie to you about a lot. The management above store level do not care about the employees underneath them. I loved my job when I first started but once you get to store manager there's very little room to be able to move up past that. I started out as a seasonal sales associate and progressed up to Store Manager very quickly. I have been with this company for 4 and a half years. ![]() The pay wasn’t ideal and the breaks were extremely short for the hours i had. Besides that, i never got too many hours. 18 and older is definitely the only appropriate age in my opinion to be working for Spencer’s. Which seems to be their required age currently. I do not even recommended employment for this company at 17. Overall, this job could be great if not for the employees and their nonacceptance of those who are younger. I understand it was not a good fit and i was definitely not fit to be working there at my age and i am almost grateful that i was able to leave. I ultimately ended up being told i was not ready for the job at-least two months later by my manager. But i really started to pick up they were not taking me seriously and almost treating me as if i were not a real employee. I was completely fine with them not involving me in their adult conversations for my safety. ![]() Things seemed alright at first but as i kept working there it almost felt as if i were being alienated for my age. It seems they do not treat individuals under 18 with respect. However, the other workers were where my problems laid. My experience at this company was definitely not the best. ![]()
